Vision therapy is a series of treatment procedures prescribed by optometrists to improve vision
problems that cannot be corrected with only glasses or contact lenses. Vision therapy is much like
physical therapy for the eyes, during which vision disorders are corrected to improve the patient's
visual function and performance.
Vision therapy treats learning-related vision problems such as poor tracking, eye teaming, and
focusing. Vision therapy also corrects lazy eyes and crossed eyes--without the need for surgery.
These vision problems are all types of disorders of "binocular" vision, meaning how we use our two
eyes together.
Many people think that vision therapy is only for children. However, adults have as much need for
this type of vision care as children. Vision Therapy is often more effective for adults because they
are usually more motivated to improve their visual abilities, whereas children may not understand that
they have a problem or how that problem may affect their interests or future.
Dr. Price and Dr. Davies are both specially trained in vision therapy. Dr. Price has received a
Fellowship (FCOVD) from The College of Optometrists in Vision Development making him the only optometrist
in Utah that is Board Certified in Vision Therapy. Dr. Davies is Board Eligible and currently seeking
the same fellowship.
